aws For A Cause
All Paws For A Cause was born with the thanks to my little hamster spinning on his little wheel as usual, and this hamster is not a real hamster, he lives in my mind and tends to keep me up at all hours! It all started with ASSARO needing funds for a fence, I walked around for weeks thinking up all sorts of plans on how I can help raise funds. So in the middle of a windy night my little hamster came up with a plan that can not only benefit ASSARO but even more animal welfares. I spoke to some of my crafting friends, some of my favorite welfare organizations and here we are. The concept is simple, start an online shop, sell our handmade goodies and ALL the proceeds go to your selected animal welfare, they already do so much and here is how we can all lend a helping hand. We hope that in time more organizations will join this project so that we can spread the love even more. It is a small start but all great things start small...
ASSARO - Australian Shepherd South African Rescue Organisation
ASSARO is a pro quality life Australian Shepherd Dog rescue organization.
When Ingrid Liberte fostered a deaf Australian Shepherd called Josh, she had a feeling that as time went on more Aussies were going to need new homes. That’s when, in January 2012, the non-profit company, Australian Shepherd South African Rescue Organisation (ASSARO) was started for these rescues, which was subsequently registered in May 2012.
ASSARO NPC is a section 21 non-profit organization that rescues and rehabilitates the Australian Shepherd dog. All Australian Shepherds that are surrendered to us receive a full health check and get vaccinated, dewormed and sterilized if necessary. We rely heavily on donations from our supporters and the proceeds from the sale of our products such as calendars, T-shirts and mugs.
We have a strict adoption policy and ensure that the right home is found, regardless of how long that may take. JHB is the main base where our rescues are cared for and we will facilitate transportation, from anywhere in SA, to ensure that the rescues arrive safely at ASSARO.
KAWS - Kleinmond Animal Welfare Society
We are the voice for the outcasts, a voice for the unwanted. We believe all our pawsome boys and girls deserve a loving home and just like people, they all deserve a second chance at happiness.
Kleinmond Animal Welfare Society (KAWS) is a non-profit organisation with the aim to serve the areas of Rooi Els, Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay, Kleinmond and Salandra by taking care of the community’s unwanted, mistreated and neglected pets. We also advocate and promote the sterilisation of cats and dogs to curb unwanted breeding in an already overpopulated pet community. We sterilise, dip, vaccinate, deworm and treat illnesses of animals in our low-income communities and provide a safe haven for homeless or surrendered animals until we’re able to place them in good, loving homes.
Time permitting, KAWS visits the Grade 3s and 4s from the KidsCan! Aftercare Centre, a youth development project located in Kleinmond. The children can’t wait for their Pet Care lessons which form part of developing their Life Orientation Skills. They even have to write exams and pass at the end of the year to qualify as KAWS Cadets.

PETS - Pet Empowerment in Townships
PETS originated in Cape Town in 2007, it was founded by Anoux Massey. A Johannesburg branch started in 2010 run under the same principles as the Cape Town PETS. Nicole Badenhorst heads the JHB team. The Johannesburg branch focuses on communities South of JHB such as Orange Farm Township, Walkerville etc.
PETS (Pet Empowerment in Townships) strives to empower animals in townships and poor communities. We work with the community to improve the lives of these disadvantaged animals by giving them daily meals, warm shelters, regular inoculations, sterilizations and vet care in emergencies. We also rehome those ones that are unwanted, unloved or lost. We try to instill in the communities, a responsibility and pride for their animals by not just empowering the animals, but also by educating and helping the people uplift themselves. We believe in working hand in hand with the animals and people of these impoverished areas to create unity, trust and stability for all.

SRSA - Sighthound Rescue SA
Sighthound Rescue SA is run entirely by volunteers. We do not employ any full-time staff, and all funds raised are used exclusively for the care and rehoming of our dogs!
We are a registered NPO that operates throughout South Africa to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome sighthounds. Our dogs are primarily cared for in foster homes until permanent homes can be found, although they may be placed in high-quality boarding kennels briefly while healthcare is undertaken and suitable foster or permanent homes are secured. When you adopt a dog from SRSA you can rest assured that your new best friend has been thoroughly checked for any health issues and treated if necessary, sterilized, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. In addition, because of the foster home approach, we have detailed knowledge of the characters, temperaments and special needs of all our dogs. While in foster care the dogs are rehabilitated and socialized and they learn how to live in a normal home environment. This ensures that everything possible has been done to make sure that they are ready to become a much-loved and happy part of your family.

We also have a dipping schedule with dogs who suffer from mange and have successfully treated numerous dos afflicted by this condition
Our focus remains responsible pet ownership, where sterilisation is a prerequisite for subsidised treatment and assistance
We also aim to improve the lives and conditions of animals waiting to be adopted in local shelters, and we are currently assisting Overberg Pet Care Society with their kennels in Botriver
It is our dream to have a small place of our own.
